Compassion, Comfort, and
Dignity at Every Stage

What is Hospice?

Hospice is specialized care designed for individuals facing a life-limiting illness when the focus shifts from curative treatment to comfort and quality of life. The goal of hospice is not to hasten or postpone death, but to ensure each day is lived with dignity, peace, and as much comfort as possible.

Hospice treats the whole person — addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs — while also supporting family members and caregivers.

When Is Hospice Appropriate?

Hospice care is appropriate when:

  • A physician determines a life expectancy of six months or less if the illness runs its natural course
  • Curative treatments are no longer effective or desired
  • Comfort and symptom management become the primary goals

Patients may continue to receive medications and treatments that manage pain and improve quality of life, as deemed by the patient’s plan of care.
